Givers Get
When I coach with other business owners and people that have ideas I often find reluctance on their part to share those ideas with others. I think this boils down many times to believing that ideas are scarce in this world.
I happen to think that ideas are a dime a dozen. If your big idea is how to make $1,000,000 with a brand new internet program that helps people, then you should tell everyone you know about it. Unless you are willing to share your ideas and let those around you know, how will you ever get the word out?
This can be backwards thinking for many people. “What if someone steals my idea?” I hear that one quite often. I’m sure that your big idea is not the only one out there.
If it is a great idea, then do something with it. Turn it into income. I help people do this each week. You must be willing to share if you want to receive on the other end.
Aren’t the people with the most friends the ones who are the friendliest in return? This should be your new way of thinking. Give away whatever you can. For this reason I give away almost everything I do for free on our website. It is also why I train others to do what I do. I routinely field emails and calls from coaches around the country that have questions about a part of their business. If I believed in scarcity instead of abundance, I would never talk to other coaches and counselors. I am not so naive to think however that I am the only one that can help everyone in this world, or even in my own city.
As stated in The One Minute Millionaire, “give your time, your approval, your smile, your advice, your wisdom, your compliments, your sense of humor, your talent, your attention, your encouragement, your love. All these things will flow back to you in abundance.”

My Life Story On The Big Screen!
When the final chapter in my life's story has been written and work on the screenplay for the movie begins, someone will be faced with the difficult assignment of deciding who will play me on the big screen. It won't be an easy task because it will take an actor of the first water to capture the true essence of me.
My life has had the same assortments of successes and failures, tears, both of joy and of sorrow, grand excitement and heart-rending disappointments as everyone else in this world. I can say though, in all honesty I've never been bored a day in my life!
I guess I've been thoroughly blessed to have survived in this world as long as I have without the benefit of a burning desire for anything, leaving me slightly out of step with all the movers and shakers of this world. Does that mean that I've been without dreams and goals to achieve them? No!
Having no great desire to save the world, cure cancer or control a corporate empire has worked well for me. With only a few exceptions there's not a thing I would change if I had all this to do over again. There are enough surprises jumping out at us when we least expect it to overcome any thoughts of succumbing to boredom, which I believe is a sin!
Who then, if this epic of human survival were cast today, would I choose for that role of a lifetime? Not just anyone could carry off such an assignment. After much thought, I've narrowed the field down to just a few that could seriously portray me on the big screen.
As my younger self, would be the one I would definitely choose to play me, if for no other reason than he's the only young actor I can think of at the moment. He's obviously talented, for I've seen him in several movies, other than "Second Hand Lion," with Robert Duvall and Michael Caine. Dye his hair a little darker and he could be me in my younger years.
Al Pacino would be a favorable choice for an older me. He lives the character and in just a few scenes you forget that he's Al Pacino. That's the kind of man who can capture the real Bob Alexander. I can see Al now, smiling as he says, "Say hello to my little friend!" Oops! Wrong movie!
Unfortunately I don't believe this part is crying out for Mr. Pacino. This is the role every actor dreams about, but he seems a little too serious accurately portray me. I've never found a serious situation that couldn't be improved by a little humor. Some believe this to be a flaw in my character but I believe it to be genetic and it's not my fault! I was born with this affliction.
I think the ability to find humor in the most dire of situation has been passed down to my brother also. A case in point is a dilemma my family encountered when my mother passed away.
As befitting a good country song, it was raining on the day before her funeral and the weather outlook for the next day was more of the same. In addition, when my brothers and I were seated in the funeral home with the director, we found that the day was already booked. There were four interments already scheduled, but the gentleman said that he could squeeze us in at 8:00 a.m. We all determined that this was much too early for such an event.
My brother broke the silence that ensued with, "What's the chance there will be a cancellation tomorrow?" The funeral director looked surprised and in a shocked voice replied, "I don't think I've ever been asked that before." We all had a good laugh that broke, for the moment, the somber mood that had been cast over the room. Mother would have been proud!
When it comes down to deciding just who will be the lucky fellow to play me, I'll have to go with George Clooney. Not only is he a good actor, he has a wit about him that is reminiscent of my humor. Put that together with his good looks, and he would be the perfect choice to play the role of Bob Alexander.

How Adversity can be overcome by inner wisdom
First we will see what the meaning of Adversity is. Adversity means hard times going through his or her life.Adversity seems to be a brawny and tough word if we allow it to be superior to us. Unluckily it comes in ones life and the effect of it is such that, the person is psychologically disabled to move further in his life.
Our inner perception guides us what has to be done but we are so much in tension that we are not able to perceive it. In this case if we use the god given inner wisdom, we can clear the all dirt and bring the rays of happiness in our life. But before coming out of adversity through inner wisdom we have to know the meaning of inner wisdom first.
Inner wisdom also known as “intuition” at times forces you to think, act, or speak. It acts as a lashing force which motivates, inspires, initiates thoughts, measures, and interactions. Inner wisdom also helps to achieve greatness in life guided by a Devine Spiritual Force. From the above discussion we can know that Adversity is just one of the objectives of inner wisdom.
After knowing inner wisdom now you can know when last time you have used it. You may have used it but you didn’t know at that time. Whenever you need it the inner wisdom is there for your service. All you have to do is to perceive it. What internal sound is telling you? When Adversity is witnessed in your life, what action you will take, will you mount over it? Avoid it, go through adverse phase, or get away from it? In this situation you have to listen to your inner wisdom, which is filled with inner knowledge which in turn helps to find clearness of the moment. You will take correct course act to overcome the adverse situation. This clear mental picture rationalizes you and gives you the ability to think wisely.
Now we will see how to enhance the intuition. Focus plays a vital role in enhancing the intuition. For this you have to do 10-15 minutes meditation every day. There are many ways by which we can meditate I will tell you one method in briefly. Take a candle light it and keep it at a distance of four to five feet’s from you. Keep such that the candle’s flame is at the height of your eyes. Then close the doors and windows of the room and start looking at the candle. Even if your eyes flow doesn’t matter, practice this for 10-15 minutes on daily basis. This will help you greatly to improve your inner wisdom. This meditation will help us to define and listen what the inner wisdom is telling us.
After improving our inner wisdom by meditation we will be able to face adversity with more ease. We will learn to prevent and contend Adversity instead of getting panicked by it. It will help us to move beyond it effectively when it occurs. We will see opportunity in such situation and move forward in life.

There are milder versions that can be applied at home after a 'patch' test has been done. AHA's are effective in treating fine lines, blotchy skin tone, acne and sun damage. The peel may need to be repeted periodically for maximum results.
Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA): Peels containing TCA's are deemed more suitable for those with pigmented skin who want a stronger peel as it does not bleach the skin and is more suitable for pigmentation problems. It is a more potent peel but an anaesthetic might not be required as the peel has a mild numbing effect on the skin. Contact with the sun is imperative for some months after the peel to prevent damage to the fresh layers of skin.
The Phenol Chemical Face Peel: Is made up of croton oil. This face peel product acts deeper and must be applied by a qualified cosmetic surgeon as it usually does require an anaesthetic or heavy sedation because it is painful. The outcome is the smoothing of deep wrinkels, it can permanently lighten the skin as the skin will more than likely be unable to produce pigment after the peel hence it is not recommended for darker skinned individuals. It will get rid of freckles and precancerous growths. One treatment is all that is required due to it's strengh. If you suffer from a history of heart disease then you must make your surgeon aware of this pror to discussing this treatment.
One thing that must not be underestimated after having a phenol chemical face peel is the importance of skin care. The gentler the better and one must keep out of the sun to prevent damage at this stage. After this treatment sun care is of utmost importance, even when the skin is fully healed.
The three chemical face peels above are the most commonly available but there are others available that the practitioner will be able to advise you of.

Stop Looking Back!
Getting ready to drive off in my wife's car the other day, I checked and adjusted her mirrors. I first adjusted the side mirrors and then finally the rearview mirror. And suddenly, it dawned on me. Ever notice how much smaller the rearview mirror is than the windshield?
Of course I realize that this is not some startling new discovery. Anyone who drives knows that the rearview mirror is much, much smaller than the windshield for very obvious reasons.
But as I sat there before I drove off, I wondered just how fast and how far you could drive if the windshield was the size of the rearview mirror, and the rearview mirror was the size of the windshield!
No, I am not losing my mind with a wild brainstorm idea for General Motors! I am trying to make a point. We all know that the reason the windshield is so much bigger is because the road ahead of us is so much more important than the road behind us. We need to see and focus clearly on as much of the road ahead as we can.
This is so true in living life. Where we are going in life is so much more important than where we have been. Yet far too many people are living in their past. They live day to day staring into their rearview mirror with all their focus and attention on what happened to them in the past, instead of looking forward to the future.
People are living with regrets, guilt, shame, disappointments and discouragements resulting from things in their past. Many people go around feeling sorry for themselves. Some are living with anger or seek revenge from being hurt. Regardless of what has happened or how they feel, they all have one thing in common: they are all starring into their rearview mirror.
What is there in your past that you can change? Absolutely nothing. What great profit is it to spend your time and mental focus on the past? There is none. Even if there were some really fantastic things in your past, they are all still in the past.
Some people are still trying to live back in the "good ol' days," back when their lives were so much better. They think about it and relive a happier time without all the stress or hardships that they face now. Doing that is still looking into the rearview mirror!
Yes, there are disappointments in life, some small, and some not so small. But if you are going to move forward with your life, you have to put your eyes on what is ahead. As you drive your vehicle, you not only see the road immediately in front of you, but you can also see a good ways up the road.
So why not do that with your life? Stop dwelling on the past. Stop reliving it over and over and over. Stop talking about it. It is over with and there is nothing that can change what has happened in the past.
Of course, there may be circumstances that you have to deal with as the result of something that has happened in the past. Take care of those, but then be determined to move forward. The Bible talks about forgetting those things which are in the past. That means that it is a freewill choice to let go of the past. We can choose to look forward or to look backward.
When you are driving your vehicle, you can't get very far without running into something if you're constantly looking into the rearview mirror. I don't recommend trying this! And neither do I recommend doing it with life either.
If you want to move forward with your life, then stop looking back, ask for God's help, and keep looking and moving forward.

Advice for Nearsighted Optimists
I was born optimistic. But it wasn't unfounded optimism: Rather it was optimism based on seeing better ways to proceed.
From the earliest age, I could see easy ways to improve on what the adults around me were ignoring. Take choosing a driving route, for instance. Most people simply went the same way they had gone before whenever the mood struck them.
Plan your route with a map and pick a time when others are not driving, and the same trip can go faster and easier. Once you see the real conditions, be flexible. Don't sit stalled on the freeway when the access road is wide open.
More importantly, I noticed that when you do things effortlessly, your quality of life improves as well. But there was a problem with my optimism; it was limited to improvements that I could effortlessly see.
There was an irony about my ability to see better ways to accomplish things: I actually couldn't see much unless something was a few inches from my face. I was legally blind but no one noticed it.
Here's a funny example: Whenever our family visited my great grandparents, I wouldn't put their binoculars down. I wanted to use those wonderfully adjustable lenses nonstop because I could see at a distance so much better with them.
I was, however, puzzled, by the way that others always had to readjust the binoculars so much after I used them. What could that be about? Here was an early lesson that something else is going on worth investigating if others take a different approach.
In fourth grade a teacher observed me squinting close to the blackboard between assignments and taking notes like mad. She sent me to the nurse's office where I failed to be able to identify the big E at the top of the eye chart.
A quick trip to the optometrist soon left me sporting glasses that seemed a mile thick and with distance vision that still wasn't very good. I preferred binoculars.
My mother promised me, based on her sunny optimism, that I wouldn't have to wear those awful glasses all of my life. She was sure that something better would come along.
She taught me an important lesson about the value of optimism a year later when she determinedly arranged for me to become one of the first children to wear contact lenses. Each time I put on my contact lenses for the next 50 years, I reexperienced the miracle and joy of being able to see clearly at a distance all the time.
That daily recognition that the right solutions could transform lives in miraculous ways led me to seek out how to help others who couldn't yet see the opportunities in front of them.
One day after about a year with contact lenses, my mom told me that someday I wouldn't have to wear the lenses any more. I couldn't figure out why she was telling me that. I loved my contact lenses! What could be better?
Of course, 50 years later with the benefits from cataract surgery, I have perfect vision without any glasses. Now, wasn't that worth the wait? My mother's optimism paid off!

Cabinets will be more or less durable depending on the materials used underneath the metal. Spend a little extra to be sure your cabinets will last a long time.
Melamine cabinets are another option. Melamine is a coating that goes over a base material and provides protection against scratches, stains and flames. It can come in a retro-style, plain white or faux wood grain. The durability of melamine also is dependent on the quality of the base material. The coating doesn't allow moisture into the base material, but if the coating is cracked, melamine cabinets can sag quickly. Another drawback to Melanie is the fact that if it cracks, it is hard to patch without being replaced completely. Otherwise, they are an aesthetically pleasing and relatively durable choice for a kitchen cabinet set.
Whatever the choice of material, a new set of kitchen cabinets will make your entire house look and feel different. The right cabinet set will make your kitchen feel more like home or more like a professional kitchen, depending on your preference. Take the time to check out each material and style available before committing to a new set of kitchen cabinets. A Husband's Support
When I was first married, I thought my husband would be my emotional support. I assumed he'd be there for me since that was what marriage was all about. I like these techniques because they are ways I can take care of myself all by myself. That is why I am sharing them with you. They cost nothing and they give you the ability to care for yourself in your own time.
EFT
EFT - The "Emotional Freedom Techniques" are based on the science of Chinese medicine and energy meridians. If you tap on certain energy points regularly, you will be able to unload your emotional baggage. You may need outside support for the tougher issues but what I like about these techniques is that they are something you can use on yourself, by yourself, for yourself and you can get the manual for free. Writing
Writing Your Resentments & Fears - There's a writing technique I learned in Al-Anon that helps clarify and discharge emotions. You start with your resentment and then make a list of fears and address it all to your Higher Power. For example, start with a sentence in this format:
"Dear_______, I have a resentment toward _____________ for __________ because I have a fear of______________because I have a fear of__________ because I have a fear of _______________..." Continue writing down fear after fear until you get to the bottom of your fears.
Example:
"Dear G-d,
I have a resentment toward the Superintendent for closing our school because I have a fear of my daughter getting radiated by the cell tower at our new school because I have a fear of leading this PTA meeting tonight because I have a fear of being honest about my feelings because I have a fear of people attacking me because I have a fear my feelings aren't right because I have a fear of not being able to stand up for myself because I have a fear of..."
Continue writing each fear you discover beneath the previous fear until you feel complete. At the end, you can do one of two things, either:
1. write: "I am now entirely ready to have these fears and resentments removed. Please remove them now, thanks. I pray only for the knowledge/experience of Your will for me and the power to carry that out." Sign it and then rip it up and throw it away. Or:
2. You can begin writing from the voice of your Higher Power answering you.

"Summertime and the livin' is easy...." It's time to kick back, relax, have fun and enjoy the simple pleasures of summer. But because of gas prices and other expenses, many people have decided not to travel this year. This is an old but a very new concept to many. There are a multitude of local programs and summer camps for the kids, but what can all the adult children do to make this summer special? How can you alter your daily routine and turn your home into a restful vacation place? Here are five simple guidelines:
1. Enjoy as many meals as possible outside: Instead of rushing through your meals mindlessly, savor the time to enjoy the summer air and greenery. Sit with your morning cup of coffee on your porch or in your backyard. Listen to the birds and feel the morning sun warming the day. At lunch time to, step out of the box, sit in an outdoor café or take a bagged lunch to the park. For dinner, cook outside, set the table on your deck, or grab a blanket a go for a picnic. You will find that once you have the necessary supplies in place, any of these possibilities can be effortless. Imagine how different your life would feel if you had just one meal outside every day?
2. Schedule a play day: Set aside one day a week, or at the very least an afternoon or morning, when you don't do any errands, you don't turn on the computer or do chores, and you just have fun. Perhaps something you used to do when you were younger and just haven't found the time for lately. It could be hiking or biking, playing badminton or croquet. It could be doing something creative with watercolors or photography. The only pre requisite is that you are doing it because you want to and it makes you happy. Make a list of all the activities you enjoy. Post it somewhere visible to you everyday, and have fun checking the items off one by one or several times each.
3. Create a summer reading list: Those wonderful long summer novels don't need to be read on the beach or in a vacation home. Create a cozy inviting reading space indoors or out and visit it regularly. All the television programs are repeats so turn the darn box off and cuddle up with a good book.
4. Explore your own state or region: Often there are museums, historic places, amusement parks, national parks, gardens, and arboretums in your local area that you have never visited. Just google "Things to do in (your state), "and have fun exploring.
5. Post your summer hours: To assure that this summer at home just doesn't drift by unattended, you really have to firmly establish times each day an each week that are devoted to renewal, fun, and relaxation. Create space in your daily calendar for each of the activities listed above and block off those times in permanent read ink. Let your family, co-workers and friends know that these are your priorities for the upcoming months. Who knows you might start a trend!

Congratulations. You have trained your brain. As Newsweek's Sharon Begley explained recently:
"But now neuroscientists have documented how "mere" thoughts can also sculpt the brain. Just thinking about playing a piano piece, over and over, can expand the region of motor cortex that controls those fingers; just thinking about depressive thoughts in new ways can dial down activity in one part of the brain that underlies depression and increase it in another, leading to clinical improvement."
We have talked about the value of meditation before. Only a few days ago, in predicting brain health trends for the next 5 years, I wrote that:
"Noncomputer-based programs will also prove to be effective tools. Research increasingly is affirming the value of such methods as meditation to train attention and regulate emotions, using cognitive therapy to build self-motivation and other abilities, and keeping a gratitude journal to affirm positives in one's life and improve self-reported happiness.
A fascinating new study (Mindfulness meditation training in adults and adolescents with ADHD. Journal of Attention Disorders, 11, 737-746) suggests the benefits of mindfulness for adolescents and adults with attention deficits.
Let's see what Dr. David Rabiner, Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University, has to say about the topic:
"Mindfulness meditation is described as involving 3 basic steps: 1) bringing attention to an "attentional anchor" such as breathing; 2) noting that distraction occurs and letting go of the distraction; and, 3) refocusing back to the "attentional anchor". This sequence is repeated many times during the course of each meditative session. As the individual becomes better able to maintain focus on the attentional anchor, the notion of "paying attention to attention" is introduced and individuals are encouraged to bring their attention to the present moment frequently during the course of the day."
"By directing one's attention to the process of paying attention, to noticing notice when one becomes distracted, and to refocusing attention when distraction occurs, mindfulness meditation training can be thought of as an "attention training" program. As such, examining the impact of such training on individuals with ADHD becomes a very interesting question to pursue."
The Results of the study?
Seventy-eight percent of participants (25 of 33) completed the study. On average, participants attended 7 of the 8 weekly training sessions. Adults reported an average of 90 minutes and 4.6 sessions per week of at-home meditation practice; adolescents averaged 43 minutes and 4 sessions of weekly at-home practice. Both adolescents and adults who completed the program reported high levels of satisfaction with it - average scores above 9 on a 1 to 10 satisfaction scale.
Seventy-eight percent of participants reported a reduction in total ADHD symptoms, with 30% reporting at least a 30% symptom reduction (a 30% reduction in symptoms is often used to identify clinically significant improvement in ADHD medication trials). Because the majority of participants were receiving medication treatment, for many these declines represent improvement above and beyond what benefits were already being provided by medication.
On neurocognitive test performance, significant improvements were found on the measure of attentional conflict and on several other neuropsychological tests (i.e., Stroop color-word test and Trails A and B) but not for measures of working memory.
For adults, significant reductions in depressive and anxiety symptoms were reported. Comparable reductions in these symptoms were not evident in adolescents
In short: in order to fight Attention Deficits...may it not make sense to develop the "mental muscles" to Pay Attention?
